NOTICE REGARDING ELECTION CHANGES
FOR THE
MAGNA WATER DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Lieutenant Governor’s office has authorized the Magna Water District to change its election cycle from the municipal election cycle on odd-numbered years to the general election cycle on even-numbered years. The District requested this change to avoid confusion with the Magna City Council elections.
As a result, the District will not hold an election in 2025. Instead, it will hold an election in November 2026 for two Board of Trustee positions.
To be eligible to run for a seat on the Board in 2026, eligible candidates must satisfy the following requirements:
(1) be a United States Citizen;
(2) be a registered voter at the location of the candidate’s residence, which must be within the District’s boundaries; and
(3) not be a full-time or part-time employee of the District.
Eligible candidates running for election to the Board in 2026 must appear in person to file a Declaration of Candidacy form with the District during the District’s normal office hours from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm on June 1 – June 4, and June 8, 2026. Such candidates must satisfy the above conditions when they file their Declaration of Candidacy form.
Candidates must also submit a completed Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement with the District when filing their Declaration of Candidacy form. This is a new requirement the Legislature enacted in 2025 under Utah Code §17B-1-306.1. As a result of this new law, the District CANNOT ACCEPT a Declaration of Candidacy form without a complete Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement. Copies of these forms are available here.
If you have any questions, please contact the District’s Clerk, LeIsle Fitzgerald, at (801) 250-2118 or [email protected].
